HIC President Election
Welcome to the 2007 Elections for Habitat International Coalition Presidency
Nomination Procedure:
Every HIC member that has paid their 2006 or 2007 HIC membership dues has the right to nominate a candidate. Once 5 members have nominated a particular individual, that member will be announced by the Electoral Committee as an official HIC Presidential Candidate.
If you would like to nominate a HIC member, please write it in a comment by clicking here or on the link below that says "post a comment". Please follow the guidelines from the HIC Blog Manual .
Please not that you do not need your HIC user password to post. Please select "other" in identity and only include the information that ask for. For further information please refer to Manual.
Please in post include:
- Your organization´s name,
- HIC Username and
- your email to verify legitimacy.
Please note that comments and open debate is very much welcome in the blog. You may also add comments and opinions here (by clicking on "Post a Comment") in the blog that are related to the Electoral Proceedings and of a length no longer than 1000 characters. I would like to nominate Davinder Lamba of the Mazingara Institute in Nairobi as president of Habitat International Coalition.
I would like to nominate Mr Davinder Lamba of Manzigira Institute for the position of HIC president.
I believe that Mr. Lamba is well suited to the position as he has HIC history and is very well in a position to understand the complexity HIC represents. In times of transition of HIC it needs a leadership that can develop both the thematic as well as the resource base of the coalition.

I would like to nominate Davinder Lamba of the Mazingira Institute as President of Habitat International Coalition. He has worked with HIC for years and is well-respected, he has good connections with UN Habitat and has a superb record at the local and international level. I have seen Davinder at work here in my home country of Canada and his home country of Kenya and have nothing but the deepest admiration for him and his work.
I would like to nominate Mr. Davinder Lamba of Mazingira Institute as President of Habitat International Coalition.
Having worked with him at home in the struggle for Social Justice and Human Rights for more than two decades and his knowledge and historical background of HIC ,I believe he will be able to lead HIC to greater heights.

I woulde like to nominate Mr Davinder Lamba from Mazingira Institute to be the President of HIC.
I am sure that he will bring equity between all members in differents regions.

We propose Arq. Enrique Ortíz as President of HIC, so that he continues with his important task of defending the right to the housing, to the city, to the habitat social production, so that he agglutinates investigators and institutions of Latin America around this mission.

Proponemos al Arq. Enrique Ortíz como Presidente del HIC, para que continúe con su importante tarea de defender el derecho a la vivienda, a la ciudad, la producción social del hábitat, para que aglutine investigadores e instituciones de América Latina en torno a esta misión.
I agree with the nomination of Davinder Lamba as President of Hic due to his background, relations and capabilities. I think, besides, that the rotation in the presidency among persons of different regions will be helpful for the achievement of the Coalition’s goals.
I also want to thank Enrique Ortiz for the ample task, deep reflections and for his leading style during these past years.
For this reason, I imagine and expect that the new president, will count with his support and helpful dialogue.
Joining experiences, which is deeply rooted in the Coalition’s experience will enable us to count with the strengths already built and with sound and valuable innovation.

Quiero expresar también mi agradecimiento a Enrique Ortiz por la labor que ha llevado a cabo y por la forma de conducción que implementó. Por esta razón mantengo la expectativa de que el nuevo presidente cuente con su respaldo y consejo.
Estoy convencida de que la conjunción de la experiencia de ambos, presidente saliente y presidente electo, nos posibilitará transitar un nuevo período contando con la fortaleza construída y con la sana renovación que todo proceso necesita.
